Hunting Spider Products:

Ficam +, Ficam Dust, foggers, monitor boards, D-sect, Demand, and Delta Dust.

FICAM + 

    Ficam + is a carbamate, wettable powder with a synergised pyrethrum, which no doubt means nothing to most people.  The packet makes one gallon mixed with water. The chemical dries as a white powder on baseboards and cracks and crevices leaving a residual residue that is picked up by spiders and kills them.  It is the best chemical in my opinion for all spiders. Should be used in conjunction with Ficam Dust and monitors.  This product like many is under scrutiny by the E.P.A. and may be removed in the near future.

FICAM DUST

    Ficam Dust works well with Ficam +.  It should be applied in cracks, in wall voids, in attics etc. for spider control.  You will need a duster to apply, and plan on spending time on your knees in order to place the dust in wall voids between rug and baseboard.  Dusting the attic can be done by hand or with an electric duster.  Hand dusters sell for about $10.00.  This is an essential part of control, especially for the Brown Recluse.

Delta Dust

 Delta dust can be substituted for Ficam dust.  It is in a different chemical family.  It is a pyrethrum, but it has a residual of a year, and moisture does not effect it.  It is an excellent product for both spiders and insects.

This is a perfect monitor for Recluse or any spider or insect.  If you have children or pets these are ideal to avoid catching the wrong pest.  They can be placed flat , or attached to walls or baseboards.  Easy to open once you know how to replace the glue board, but impossible if you don't know the secret.  Inserts are inexpensive.  Can also be used with a tray for bait for ants, roaches, etc. Indestructible plastic, should never need to be replaced.

These glue boards are especially treated to attract spiders as well as mice and insects.  I have yet to get an answer as to what is used to attract spiders considering they eat insects and other spiders and as far as I know there has been no pheromone extracted that works on spiders but who knows. Put side to side with other monitors they appear to catch more Recluse.  Maybe its the color.  Whatever, they seem to work.  Some tests have been done to eliminate Recluse using nothing but these monitors.  The success rate was positive but slow.

Pro-control total release Foggers are .5% pyrethrum.  Excellent in a small area.  Will kill on contact with no residual.  They will not penetrate wall voids, boxes, etc. so do not use them alone and expect good results.  Use in conjunction with Ficam+ and  or Ficam Dust.  They will help reduce the population quickly.

    Make sure you and all pets, including fish are out of the area before setting off. (Fish can be covered and filter turned off if not in the same room)

Standard flat glue board.  Good for monitoring.  Glue is hard to get off.  If you have pets etc. do not use this type where they can get to them.  Excellent to place under refrigerator, stove, etc.

Cobweb eliminator is not a pesticide, when applied to a surface it prevents spiders from forming a web, thus forcing them to move.  We use it under decks, on docks, under eves etc.  Last season we got about five months of web free area after applying in May under eves of houses in heavily wooded areas.  Excellent product for any outside area.  If used inside beware of a slight odor. It is not repulsive, at least to me, but do a small area first.  Could be used in crawl spaces or unfinished basements depending on label specifications. Do not mix with water.

DEMAND CS

    Demand is an excellent insecticide/aracnicide. It is a synthetic pyrethrum, odorless, with a one -three month residual depending on light, rain etc.  Less than one ounce per gallon of water.  Used inside or out for spider control as well as a variety of insects.

Talstar Liquid or granular

Talstar liquid or granular is an excellent product.  It has both a quick knockdown as well as a residual.  It is both an insecticide and an aracnicide. 

Highly recommend this product for both inside and outside. (Granular outside only)  It lasts approximately 90 days.  Safe for children and animals, low to no odor, a with a broad spectrum of pests on the label.  Labeled for both lawn and pest control.
