Snakes

Snakes! Why did it have to be snakes? I hate snakes. The quote from Harrison Ford or Indiana Jones is the only thing I remember from the Indiana Jones series, and am reminded of it every time we get a snake call.

Snakes rarely create enough of a problem to call a pest control company, but every once in awhile they become a nuisance either by their numbers or location. We have had several requests to remove them from basements and garages. Occasionally numerous snakes curl up in somebody's back yard to sun themselves or feed in their gardens, or upon occasion depending on where one lives, poisonous snakes will live near or under a house. In those cases, usually depending on the degree of fear the homeowner has for snakes we are called. Then of course there is the irrational fear such as a customer of ours who moved to Alaska for the sole purpose of avoiding snakes.

Snakes, like spiders and bats are beneficial. They got a bad reputation from the beginning by tempting Eve and have been feared and scorned ever since. They eat rats and mice as well as worms, insects, fish etc. depending on the species. Some eat poisonous snakes as well as non poisonous. All in all, it is a shame to destroy them, and whenever possible we strive to repel them. See Snake Products.
