Vegetation Management

Vegetation management is, as we define it, total or selective elimination of weeds from a property. It can include weed elimination under a fence row or an entire property. It is useful for parking lots,
equipment storage areas, warehouses, and industrial sites. Commercial and Industrial warehouses often have unwanted weeds and brush. Controlling them is, for a variety of reasons, a sound investment. With one treatment in the Spring, it is often possible to rid the property of all unwanted vegetation. The monetary savings in labor and equipment use alone will pay for the service.

Other reasons include:

NOXIOUS WEED CONTROL - State laws usually require any weed that is considered noxious to be treated by the owner of the property, or
they will do it for you at a not so reasonable rate, plus a fine. Canadian Thistle is an example of noxious weeds as seen in flowering stage in the picture. For a complete list contact your state Agriculture Department.

SAFETY - When weeds are allowed to grow to maturity, they often become large enough to obstruct the view of equipment
operators Those same weeds will then die back in the winter and create a fire hazard.

INSECTS AND RODENTS - Weeds are the ideal harborage for both insects and rodents. Rats and mice breed and feed in weed patches, then enter the structure when in need of food, water, and warmth. Insects like mosquitoes thrive in weeds, and so long as there is moisture will breed. Ants and a myriad of other insects also breed in weeds.

AESTHETICS - Although this is probably the least of warehouses' worries, a weed free environment is certainly more pleasing to all that work or visit there.

SAVINGS - Weed eating fence lines, mowing storage areas, monthly applications with Round-up etc. can be avoided saving substantial money.

WEED CONTROL - Each property is unique unto it's problems, and different weeds require different chemicals. There are pre-emergent herbicides, post-emergent herbicides, specific herbicides for grasses and specific herbicides for broadleaf weeds. Usually a combination or combinations of herbicides are necessary to provide the desired results and lasting effects.

Inspection and weed identification are critical to decide upon the right herbicides. Other considerations are also vital: Some chemicals tend to stray from the target location. This occurs with rain, ground water movement, ground slope, and this varies with the soil texture. This must be taken into consideration when deciding what areas need to be controlled. Weather is also an important factor. Naturally, when the chemicals need to be applied coincides with the time we get the most rain. Wind also needs to be taken into consideration for the notorious drift factor, especially if there are desirable vegetation in the vicinity.
